Interests
Motherhood, womanhood, existence, nature, global stuff, books and lyrics inspire my ideas. I'm just as likely to be found at my desk drawing a story for children as drawing a response to global stuff.
I'm a nature, animal and food lover. I like wild places and old faces. I hold my family and friends dear. I drop my books in the bath. I treasure my hands because they are so vital to me as an image maker.
I extend them with whatever i am in the mood for, sewing machine, camera, pencils, paint, canvas and computer. I enjoy them all.
Travelling and drawing extensively through India and Bangladesh was strangely wonderful and cemented a consciousness in me to the reality that my life is unusual.
My heroes are the unsung ones, the people doing incredible work in enduring environments all over the world, who, against all odds, ease the pain of others.
I love co-presenting my radio show radiogirls.co.uk with my friend Taragh. Not only does it give us a platform for debate, music and art,we have fun doing it.
I like the artists who are creative across many disciplines, working now; Matt Johnson (The The), John Berger, Marjanne Satrapi, Miranda July, and in times gone by: Mervyn Peake, Clarke Hutton, Evelyn Dunbar, Barbara Jones, Hans Feisbusch.
I will be always grateful to illustrator and artist Robert Mason for a particular piece of advice "You are what you draw."
